Hardy Ice Plant is an exceptionally drought tolerant succulent with needle-like leaves and fluorescent purple flowers that make this evergreen groundcover a sight to behold. Hot, sunny conditions keep the flowers coming from April to October in Zone 8. A single plant can spread to 2' wide in one season. Although quite hardy, it cannot stand excessive winter moisture, either in the soil or applied from above.

We often plant this succulent groundcover as a border along walkways or paths. It fits in perfectly around the rocks and boulders of the garden pon or rock garden.

The exceptionally long bloom period makes Ice Plant a personal favorite of ours. It's like an annual that blooms all season long, but it's perennial!

'Mesa Verde' Ice Plant is a marvelous new ice plant with jellybean-like leaves that are topped with stunning salmon-pink flowers from spring to fall. So far it's performing great in our trial gardens. It's perfect for the rock garden where a low groundcover for a hot, dry site is needed.
